Abel Brainz Digest, Vol. 44 - SUPER DUPER Late Edition - March 29, 2024

Sorry this is so super duper late.

Work, and family, baby!

Vol. 44!

cool baseball stuff

The good thing about this being late is Baseball's Opening Day was yesterday and many of you know how much I love baseball. (Go Giants!) It's also fitting because 44 is one of the most iconic numbers in baseball, if not all of sports.

Hank Aaron was number 44 and he held the home run record for 30+ years before Barry Bonds broke it in 2007. Click here for a great article about Hank Aaron.

I often compare improv to baseball. Baseball is also completely collaborative, yet the attention is focused on one person at a time. Even keeping score is a hybrid of team and individuality. Scoring a grounder hit to the shortstop that results in a double play is - 6-4-3. Three people make the play happen, and each person has their featured moment.

cool reading stuff

Still working on Dilla Time. There's really interesting parts and then there's parts thatI just slog through and wonder why the author included them. The Jim Henson Biography was very similar. Maybe if I followed this advice, I could be reading another book.

As much as I love this idea of Tsundoku, my wife would lose her mind. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to stand it for long, either. I don't like stuff lying everywhere, but I do love having a few books to read at a time. I think I'll start looking out for myself more than the book. If I don't like it, I won't finish it.

cool movie stuff

I gave This Is The End a rewatch. Most of it holds up, which was a welcome surprise. The overall message is a great one. If you're looking for an "older" comedy, check it out.

Well, that about does it
