Abel Brainz Digest, Vol. 46 - April 11, 2024

It's 46!

Thanks for sticking with me.

Let's check out this cool stuff!

cool stuff that lives rent free in my head

I'll spare you the details but a lot of career and acting conversations have been happening lately. This business, man... The conversations always make me think of this scene from The Godfather Pt. 2.

cool baseball stuff

April 8th was the 50th anniversary of Hank Aaron breaking Babe Ruth's home run record. 715... Seven hundred and fifteen home runs... He finished his career with 755. He played for 23 years and never hit more than 47 home runs in a season. He only hit 40 + home runs 8 times... Apologies, but it's impressive. I know this is more of an improv and acting newsletter, but I'll get there.... It's so hard to hit a baseball. It's simple. But it's hard. Just like trusting that your choice is enough when it comes to acting and improv. (See that? I got there)

cool reading stuff

It reminds me of this passage from The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin:

Art is about the maker. Its aim: to be an expression of who we are. This makes competition absurd. Every artist's playing field is specific to them. You are creating the work that best represents you. Another artist is making the work that best represents them. The two cannot be measured against one another.

Rick Rubin refresher - use a quote you haven't used

cool reminder of shameless self promotion

The sketch revue, To Peach Their Own opens Saturday, April 13th at Dad's Garage. I might* be DJing the opening night after party...
