Abel Brainz Digest, Vol. 41 - March 6, 2024

Happy March!!

check out this cool stuff!

cool book stuff

I loved What It Is by Lynda Barry and it's on a growing list of books I want to own. Especially tempting because now it's in paperback

Currently reading Dilla Time by Dan Charnas. So far, it's extremely comprehensive and detailed. I do enjoy the interactive opportunities in regards to rhythm and keeping time.

cool random poetry stuff

Hard agree (if that's a thing) with this Hafiz poem

cool movie stuff

I watched You Hurt My Feelings and Saltburn. The acting in Saltburn is great. Richard E. Grant steals the show, IMO. The trailer is incredibly misleading. Not in a good way. That's all I'll say about it. You can ask me about the movie in person, if you want my full opinion.

You Hurt My Feelings was delightful.  It's a masterclass in delivery and dryness.Julia Louis Dreyfus is a f****ing genius. Seriously, she got the Mark Twain Prize 5 years ago. And I just found out about it.

cool improv stuff

As most of you know, I don't really consider myself a teacher as much as someone who nudges you to try different approaches to improv and acting. Another session at Dad's Garage wrapped up and it reminded me of how awesome improv is at allowing people to rediscover an aspect of themselves they may have forgotten a long time ago. An aspect that might be useful in getting through tough times, and good times. Anyway, odds are pretty good that you're reading this because we worked together at Dad's Garage or Drama Inc. If I haven't seen you in a while, I hope you're well. Please let me know what you're up to. "Teaching" at Dad's Garage and Drama Inc. brings me a lot of joy. Thanks for being a part of it.

That does it for Vol. 41.
