Abel Brainz Digest - Vol. 88 - March, 2026
Hey all!
I'm a little more on top of things this issue. Let's get to it!
fun music stuff
My favorite rap group of all time had a tiny desk concert and it was a whole lot of fun.
De La Soul will always remind me of my KZSC Radio Daze. I started a show that is still on the air (humble brag) and you can still listen to it on the world wide internet.
fun improv stuff
I'll be performing in Road Trip on March 13th and tickets are going fast!
Your Favorite Improv Gym is back in April (and March spots are still open). It will still be on Thursdays and there are still multiple membership levels. Stay tuned for signups coming out early next week.
ALSO:
I will be in the March edition of Shrink at Dynamic El Dorado. It's such a fun show and I'm honored to be a part of it.
fun reading stuff
I finally finished An Immense World, and in a moment of kismet, started reading Say Hello to my Little Friend by Jenine Capó Crucet. I love it so far and the following passage hit directly into what An Immense World was about (senses) and how I approach improv:
"So much of the human brain is devoted to language. How limit-ing, how pathetic even, to have evolved toward speaking rather than sensing." - from Say Hello to my Little Friend
Now I don't want to imply anyone is pathetic by any means. However, I will die on the following hill: how you feel about something is the root of all memorable improvisation
Don't @ me. I would love to hear thoughts on that though. So leave them in the comments by clicking the new shiny button (the shiny button only pops up on substack)
